Five men arrested as St Mary cops take guns off the streets
Thanks to the swift actions of the St Mary police, two firearms have been taken off the streets and five men are now in custody following two separate operations in the parish on Wednesday.
Reports are that about 5:30 p.m., lawmen carried out an operation at a house in Industry Pen, Three Hills, where a Taurus 9mm pistol along with nine rounds of ammunition was allegedly found wrapped in a scarf and hidden in a clothes basket.
Later that night, about 10:10 p.m., the driver of a Honda Fit motor car with four male passengers was signalled to stop. A search of the vehicle reportedly uncovered a Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol with a magazine containing eight rounds hidden under the passenger seat. Police also found an additional ten 9mm rounds in a transparent bag inside the car.
The five men were arrested in connection with the finds.
Their identities are being withheld pending further investigations.
