Man killed after sitting on roadway in St James

The St James Traffic Division is now investigating the death of an unnamed man who was struck and killed by a car on Monday while sitting on the roadway along the Long Bay main route.

Reports from the Barrett Town police are that about 10:15 p.m., a man was driving a Honda Fit motor car in a westerly direction along the roadway when the unidentified man ran out and sat on the roadway.

The driver attempted to swerve but collided with him, resulting in the man being trapped under the vehicle.

The police were alerted, and the injured man was transported to hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The investigation continues.
