Best and Worst JPL Week 22
Harbour View's play-off position was in doubt after they conceded an early goal to Dunbeholden and Tivoli took the lead against Cavalier in their respective regular-season finales. However, Harbour View held their nerve and got the crucial equaliser that they needed from Trayvone Reid to earn a 1-1 draw and claim the final play-off spot for the second consecutive season. They will face Arnett in the quarter-finals, hoping that they can avoid another first-round exit.
Fabian Reid ensured that Arnett Gardens would have momentum going into the play-offs after his double stoppage time goals handed preliminary round table toppers Waterhouse a 4-2 defeat, to secure third place from their final regular-season game. Winning back-to-back games to finish the regular season will give Arnett the confidence they need to take on Harbour View in the first leg of the quarter-finals on Monday.
Waterhouse had already captured the regular-season title for the second straight year and a first-round bye. But they were given a warning by Arnett Gardens in their regular-season finale, suffering a 4-2 loss. In a back-and-forth game, Waterhouse conceded two goals in stoppage time for their third loss of the season. It is a reminder that they cannot take anything for granted in the play-offs. Waterhouse hasn't finished a regular season lower than second since the 2018-19 campaign but didn't win the title. They will have a week to recharge before beginning their latest hunt for a championship.
