@Normal:Calabar's Christopher Taylor.

Following his fast 10.44 seconds over 100 metres at the Camperdown Classic last Saturday, World Youth 400 metres champion, Calabar High's Christopher Taylor, remains confident his school will be on top again at next month's ISSA-GraceKennedy Boys and Girls' Championships.

On current form, Taylor appears to have no equal in the Class Two sprints at the championships and Calabar appear on target to smash the Class Two 4x100m record.

"As always, I am ready. No pressure, a lion doesn't hide from the pressure, he lives up to pressure. I am one of the leaders for Calabar," Taylor warned his main rivals.

SIZZLING WIN

The versatile and confident 16-year-old powered his way to a sizzling win with the fastest time overall at the National Stadium last Saturday. He won ahead of teammates Tyreke Wilson (10.52), Michael Stephens (10.56) and Dejour Russell, 10.61.

"Knowing that I have this great sprint endurance, it was not too surprising that I ran 10.4 today because I have been training and everyone kept telling me I can do it, so I used it to motivate myself," Taylor said last Saturday.

"This run was just to see where I was in the flat event; I didn't come out here expecting a fast time, but I came out and executed a perfect race and so I am happy with that," stressed the 16-year-old.

Taylor is the defending Digicel Grand Prix 400m champion.

Looking ahead to next month's Boys Championships, Taylor said: "I am just basically looking to go out there and do the very best for my school and help my school to win the trophy this year again. Nothing big this year, just to go and win," stressed the athlete.
