Father allegedly beats daughter with teapot
A father is now the subject of criminal proceedings in the Kingston and St Andrew Parish Court, facing allegations of using a teapot to hit his teen daughter all over her body.
The name of the accused will not be shared by this publication, to protect the identity of the child. It is alleged that the 14-year-old girl was at home with her father when he called her into the living room to ask her some questions. Sometime thereafter, the man used a teapot to hit to child in her forehead and all over her body, which caused bruises, swelling and a wound which bled.
The child then contacted her mother and informed her what happened and a police investigation was launched. The father was subsequently arrested and charged with cruelty to child, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and unlawful wounding.
The accused appeared before Parish Judge Luciana Jackson on Wednesday, when the matter was first mentioned, but the matter was adjourned until October 18, to facilitate the complainant's attendance.
