Badda General set to drop ‘Oye Deh’
Dancehall artiste Badda General recently pulled back the curtain on the official cover art for his sophomore album, Oye Deh.
Named after his infamous catchphrase which can be heard on all of his songs, the album is set to drop October 27, which is his birthday.
Already making a huge buzz on radio, mixes, playlists, and in dancehalls worldwide is the lead single Mr Tek it Back, which takes petty to new heights. Celebrated for his reality style of music, with comedic underpinnings, Badda General lives up to his unofficial title of 'Dancehall Storyteller' . He said that "with 22 tracks, there's no need for a playlist at your next event because Oye Deh is a whole dancehall party".
The album is the follow-up to Badda General's 2020 debut album Money App Project. Two years in the making, with loads of music nestled on his hard drive, Badda General has hand-picked predominately new, fiery songs for Oye Deh.
He enlisted an ensemble of producers on the project, including DJ Muerch (from Italy), DJ Lion Dub, DJ Chatta B and Steppa Shawn (Triful Toones). Badda General opted for experts who could curate music that goes above and beyond his style standards, while connecting with wide audiences.
"I want listeners of Oye Deh to feel happy, upbeat, patriotic and ready to party," said Badda General.
This year, he released nearly a dozen songs and cut more dubs that he can put a number to.
Badda General burst on to the scene with his breakout 'bitter' anthem I Wish, amid the pandemic, releasing several singles that kept music lovers entertained during trying times.
Among them are Badness, which has racked up 700,000 streams on Spotify, Barrel (with ZJ Liquid), Barrel Remix (with ZJ Liquid, Shatta Wale and Stylo G), Bitterness and State of the Union.
