DJs Liquid and Wurl Fresh sign with Romeich

July 05, 2019

Montego Bay-born ZJ Liquid, who, for almost two decades, built a burgeoning career as one of Jamaica's top selectors/radio disc jockeys/producers/recording artistes, has signed to Romeich Entertainment.

The entertainer joins the company that already manages the careers of trending recording artistes Teejay, Ding Dong, and Shenseea, among others.

Owner of the enterprise Romeich Major told THE WEEKEND STAR, "Liquid has made his name as an all-rounder. Personally, I think he is one of the underrated in the local music industry, and it is time that his name gets on another platform that can take him to even higher heights, and I am confident that my team is the one that can get this done."

Romeich and Liquid are not strangers, having worked together over the years. When Liquid signed under Red Stripe in 2009, Romeich was responsible for producing custom shirts for his wardrobe. It is from there that a mutual respect developed.

But Liquid isn't the only disc jockey gaining a spot on the prolific team of entertainers. Wurl Fresh out of Ocho Rios has also acquired a contract.

"These disc jockeys are the epitome of what the brand Romeich Entertainment is," said Romeich. "Wurl Fresh has always been an impressive selector and is capable of adjusting and adapting to various facets of entertainment. This is exactly what I need to add to my team."

While the nature of the deal is unclear, Liquid remains employed to ZIP 103 FM, but being a label owner (having founded H2O Records in 2004) and prominent producer, who has worked with the likes of Vybz Kartel and Tifa, he is expected to bring something different to the table.

Signing to Romeich Entertainment was not a move made in haste, says Liquid.

"Romeich has stated that he always liked the quality of work, when me start production thing ... the whole vibes and my work ethic. Him reach out last year and we agreed it was a good idea, but I still wanted to make sure everything was on the best level," he said.

Meanwhile, Wurl Fresh, a member of Code Red Sound, said: "This is the best career move to take me to a higher level, and growth is the most important aspect. I am expecting that at the end of the contract, I will be better than I was when I entered because the experience is sure to provide a rounded foundation."
