Laden teams up with AceGawd on new single
Laden is maintaining his momentum in the mainstream by collaborating with current Mandeville sensation AceGawd. Their upcoming single, 'Top Choppa', which was produced by Maths of Mind, tells the tale of the entertainers falling for the same woman.
"It's a song about a girl who loves to date guys in a crew, a daring groupie, and she don't really show emotions or care about it. It's nothing for her," Laden told THE WEEKEND STAR. "It's an easy-going type of song, more album-type of track. It's just reality if you've ever been in a situation like that, where you like two persons."
The collaboration was the brainchild of Laden and AceGawd's manager, Ryan Windett, the operator of the Maths of Mind production house. The latter is also responsible for the visuals.
"He's a good friend of mine, so we just hooked up in the studio, and that's how we come about the whole Top Choppa idea," he said. "In the video, you gonna see the girl being cool with me, and also AceGawd. We don't have a lot of scenes, but we got some nice shots, and it's good quality. It's already edited, so it should be out any minute now."
Laden added that he has no particular expectations for the single, as "I'm just doing music to the best of my ability. I expect great results from it, but I won't put limits on it to say it's gonna be on Billboard or go platinum. I just put my all in every track."
Meanwhile, Laden has been making strides in recent times, as the music video for Feelings Too Heavy, a steamy track released in March, is nearing one million views on YouTube. Laden said the video's success can be attributed to self-promotion and an obvious longing for his music.
"I don't really have a steady team that is huge. It's really just self-promoting and the love from people, because they really miss Laden and like what I'm saying right now," he said. "The sound may be raunchy, but it is deliberate because dancehall is open to whatever right now. There's a season for it. I've changed and experienced a lot of things, so expressing myself musically is deliberate. It's not against the law to say whatever in dancehall now."
